Gaffer's Chat Extra with Harry Hudson

Here’s a little extra this week – Leafe boss Harry Hudson’s candid and typically honest response to the 4-3 home defeat to Ashford United.
Harry, that must have been heartbreaking last night to go down to the odd goal in seven, especially in the 87th minute?
Very disappointing to come away without a point from the game. It was a ding dong which could have been 6-6 but the lack of control in the game was very worrying for us.

A very entertaining match though. Really enjoyable for the neutral fan? For the neutral maybe but not for us! We don’t want football matches to be like that - it's not our identity.

There were plenty of positives from the game wasn’t there? … never say die attitude, desire, determination, for a start? Plus, Ashford are a very good side who you rate highly, so to run them so close is a huge positive? To be honest I wasn’t pleased with the performance or obviously the result. We did get back in the game twice which does show desire and commitment but to not even get a point was poor from us.

Centre forwards Corie Andrews and Junior Aikhionbare worked well as a pair and both looked lively? They caused Ashford’s useful centre-backs a headache all night. That was good?
Yes, they both looked lively and on another day they could have both scored more.
We’re getting off to great starts and then getting pegged back. Are we too ‘nice’ at times? I don’t think we keep the same intensity once we score - we should smell blood and go for teams to put daylight between us and them but it hasn’t been the case unfortunately ...
Knowing the way that you and Cal work and your philosophy, you'll be working on that in training?! You can count on it!
