Report: Whyteleafe 0-0 East Grinstead Town
Whyteleafe and East Grinstead shared the points in this match, but Leafe will need to do better in home games and were very disappointed not to have beaten a club who are bottom of the league without a win.
Leafe had much the better of the first half and should have gone in 2 or 3 up. Junior Aikhionbare headed over from a 4th minute Peter Wedgeworth corner. Antonio Walker-Barth in the 7th minute and Aikhionbare both had shots blocked following good runs into the box.
Leading scorer Ronald Sobowale beat 3 defenders before curling his 23rd minute shot against the far post. 3 minutes later Walker -Barth also hit the post having rounded ex Leafe keeper Brannon Daly but was somewhat off balance when he hit his left footed shot.
Wedgeworth's 40th minute free kick controversially given outside the box went over the bar then his 45th minute corner was curling and dipping towards goal, Daly managing to tip over. The Wasps made some changes at half time and looked a much better side, closing down Leafde quickly and attacking much more themselves. Tyler McCarthy made a couple of good saves, Mensah finishing the clearance in the 48th minute then tipped a 62nd minute effort from Kerran Boylan round the post.
Aikhionbare had a great chance in the 67th minute, he was first to a Sobowale cross but his header went wide. Mensah and Sobowale both had shots blocked. Both keepers were tested in stoppage time, first McCarthy made a fine save from Boylan who was clear, then Daly saved from Jordan Clarke.
