Report: Whyteleafe 5-2 South Park

Whyteleafe  completed their pre season programme with a convincing win over South Park. After the match Assistant Manager Callum McFarlane said he was delighted with the way Leafe had played at the start of both halves but concerned that they faded in the last 15 to 20 minutes of each half. Overall he was happy with the pre season games and was positive about  the forthcoming season.

Leafe started the game in style, going ahead in the 9th minute when Ronald Sobowale latched onto a long ball, rounded the visiting keeper and slotted the ball home. Three minutes later Leafe extended their lead. Sobowale was brought down in the box. He stepped up himself and casually slotted the ball home.

Leafe went 3 up after 18 minutes. Long serving crowd favourite got on the end of a corner with a great header into the bottom corner of the net. Only 23 minutes gone and Leafe scored their 4th goal, Sobowale brought down again, this time by the keeper as he went to go round him. Once again he got up to take the spot kick and shot low into the corner to complete his hat trick.

Leafe then suffered a setback on the half hour when Tre Daley was stretchered off with a hamstring injury.
South Park pulled themselves back into the game with a couple of late goals in the half. Firstly after 44 minutes a shot from 12 yards and in stoppage time a poor clearance fell to the visitors striker who struck the ball home into the bottom corner. In between these 2 goals Leafe thought they had scored a fifth but it was ruled out for a marginal offside.

Leafe increased their lead in the 53rd minute, Matt O'Donoghue's cross was headed home by Sobowale with his 4th of the match. Sobowale was then withdrawn and both sides made a number of changes to give all of their squads a game. Leafe were again the better side but the scores remained the same, Leafe netting in the 75th minute but for the second time saw a close offside decision go against them
