'Leafe lost out in this rather dull match that never really got going with an over fussy referee constantly stopping the game for minor infringements and 9 players found their way into the book mostly for trivial reasons. Leafe almost got off to a dream start when Sam Butler took a first minute free kick. It almost found Danny Oakins at the far post but he injured himself stretching to reach the ball. In the sixth minute, Paul Scott headed on a clearance from Ryan Royston for Butler to chase down the left. He put over a fine cross but Mo Maan was quickly out to save at the feet of Danny Platel. A minute later a poor clearancefrom Nicky Humphrey fell to Butler 25 tards out, but Humphrey redeemed himself, getting his head in the way of Butler's shot to deflect it for a corner.
After a bright opening 10 minutes from Leafe, they conceded a soft goal in the 11th minute. A poor back pass from Royston was intercepted by Laurent amici who chipped the ball over Robert O'Hara into the empty net. Ex Leafe favourite had a chanceto put the visitors further ahead in the 13th minute but shot straight at O'Hara. A minute later Butler got a toe to a cross come shot from Platel but the ballrolled just wide of the post. The rest of the first half became bogged down with aonstant stream of free kicks and little goalmouth action until the 41st minute when O'Hara saved a 25 yard free kick from Hamici.
The second half started slowly and with the game seemingly drifting away from the hosts, manager Stuart Massey made three changes and a more attacking formation to try and get back into the game. It was however Met Police who scored again in the 72nd minute. Hamici ran onto a long through ball, took it round O'Hara and slotted the ball into the empty net. The game again deteriorated with a flurry of yellow cards for Leafe, to Royston, Kember, Aldous, Scott and Oakins to add to the one received by Jason Goodchild in the first half.
'Leafe should have pulled one back in the 81st minute. Oakins won the ball on the right, crossed to Scott at the near post who touched it on to Stefan Ball but he sliced his shot wide from close range. Leafe had one more chance in the 85th minute when Coleman's throw found Leon McDowell in the box. He pulled the ball back to Scott but his shot waswide of the target.
The visitors never again looked in trouble and held on in the pouring rain for the three points.
