Whyteleafe comfortably beat the near neighbours to climb into the top half of the table whilst leaving Chipstead firmly rooted to the bottom, still awaiting their first league win.
The visitors got off to the best possible start taking an early lead. Sam Butler, who had already had one shot on target in the third minute, scored the opener in the sixth minute when he easily beat defender Jordan Kiffin before hitting a fine shot across Dean Rose into the far corner of the net.
Kiffin had a chance to make amends when he had the Chips first shopt in the 15th minute but this was saved by Robert O'Hara. Three minutes later former 'Leafe player, Gareth Graham had a chance when he took a 25 yard free kick but he hit it straight at O'Hara.
Butler was a constant threat to the Chipstead defence and in the 24th minute, following another good run, his deflected cross found the head of Danny Oakins. Rose just managed to prevent it going in at the expense of a corner. Fred Fleming hit a superb 40 yard pass to send Butler clear in the 29th minute. He again easily beat the defence but shot just wide of the target.
The lively Jordan Wilson went on a run down the right in the 33rd minute. His cross was headed off the line as far as Butler, who crossed to Oakins but he missed his kick with the goal at his mercy. Wilson retrieved the ball before it went out, pulling it back to Mark Hammond whose shot from the edge of the box was just wide.
Chipstead had a brief good spell just before half time. In the 40th minute, Matt Crane forced a good save from O'Hara with a low header from a Graham free kick. Two minutes later they got an equaliser when Reggie Savage found Kofi Quartey on the edge of the box and he struck the ball firmly past O'Hara into the net.
'Leafe started the second half brightly and wasted no time in reestablishing their lead. A long ball from defence to the right wing found Leon McDowell who cot inside the defender and hit a great curling cross that was headed home by the diving Butler from close range. Two minutes later they nearly went further ahead but Rose pulled off a fine save to deny Oakins who had met Butler's cross with a fine header at the far post.
Ther visitors made the game virtually safe in the 56th minute. Chris Head made a mistake in the 56th minute and was caught in possesion in his own area by Oakins who spotted Darryl Coleman in space on the edge of the box. Oakins precise pass was fired home by the joyful Coleman. There then followed a long spell of dominance from Whyteleafe without creating many real chances, but Chipstead never threatened to come back into the game.
Paul Scott came on in the 66th minute and his first touch was to lay the ball off to Butler who forced a good save from Rose. They did finally score a fourth in the 85th minute with Butler completing a fine hat-trick when he fired home from another Scott lay off.
Chipstead had a couple of very late chances for a consolation, with Savage just missing with a shot on the turn then O'Hara producing a point blank save, but in truth this was a very easy win for 'Leafe.
